Péter Magyar suspected of being supported by Bajnai’s men

April 20th, 2024

The pro-government nationwide daily repeats its claim that Péter Magyar’s movement numbers Datadat, an IT business linked to former Socialist PM Gordon Bajnai, among its partners.

On Thursday, Magyar Nemzet carried a detailed report on the presence of a Vienna-based company among the partners listed on the website of the Stand Up, Hungarians! community, founded by Péter Magyar. The CEO of the company which is a subsidiary of Datadat, is Ádám Ficsor, Bajnai’s former minister in charge of the secret services. Magyar and Datadat denied being partners in any way.

In a Magyar Nemzet editorial on Friday, Dávid Megyeri repeats his paper’s accusation and finds it curious that Magyar’s movement deleted the reference to the Vienna-based company from its website. He also suspects foreign, namely US sources behind Datadat, which has supported left-wing forces in previous elections. However, Megyeri writes, as past electoral results have shown, Datadat looks fairly inefficient in its political efforts.
