Pro-Fidesz film producer condemns Fidesz oligarchs
August 10th, 2023In an interview with a left-wing website, a filmmaker who produced documentaries critical of former Socialist Prime Ministers has repeated his condemnation of oligarchs close to the current government who brazenly enrich themselves, but pledged his continued loyalty to PM Orbán.
24.hu carries an interview with film producer László Pesty, a staunch Fidesz supporter who made the news at the Fidesz summer festival in Transylvania by condemning a ‘clan who openly steal, blackmail and embezzle’. He called that group the Lölő clan – Lölő is the nickname of Lőrinc Mészáros, the former mayor of the Prime Minister’s native village who became Hungary’s richest man over the past 13 years. In the interview, he mentions an entrepreneur who was blackmailed out of his wealth by an unnamed prominent oligarch. Such oligarchs, he says, compromise the fine ideals Fidesz represents. Pesty also says he has always been and will remain an unflinching supporter of Fidesz and PM Viktor Orbán.
