A left-wing as well as a pro-government commentator think that the opposition needs first of all a strong and charismatic leader to unite voters dissatisfied with the current government.

Népszava’s Miklós Hargitai contends that in order to run jointly and create a joint list in the 2022 Parliamentary election, the opposition should first find a credible frontrunner. The left-wing commentator finds it sad that in the aftermath of the municipal election, all opposition parties seem to be more interested in claiming leadership rather than finding an ideal charismatic politician that could unite opposition voters. Without such leader, the opposition is unlikely to show unity, Hargitai suspects.

In Magyar Hírlap, Ervin Nagy thinks that the opposition is more likely to continue its internal power struggle rather than unite, despite the success of joint opposition candidates in the municipal elections. The pro-government columnist also believes that in order to mobilize moderate voters dissatisfied with the government, the opposition would need a strong and charismatic leader. As all main opposition parties are trying to claim leadership, Nagy finds it unlikely that they will manage to join forces and compromise.
