Israel supplied material for the Soros campaign
December 22nd, 2017A left-wing columnist lambasts Israel for supporting the right-wing Hungarian government in its effort to delegitimise George Soros and the NGOs sponsored by him.
Eli Hazan, the director of International Relations of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party told the Jerusalem Post on Monday that he had provided Fidesz with information about George Soros for the purposes of the campaign against the Hungarian-American financier and his liberal NGOs.
In Népszava, Gábor Horváth accuses both governments of ‘playing from the musical score of the Russian secret services’. He quotes Mr Hazan as referring to DCLeaks documents from the Soros funded Open Society Foundations which questioned the democratic nature of the political system in Israel. DCLeaks ‘has been proven’ to be a Russian secret service operation, Horváth explains, which shows that Israel is ready to ally itself with the devil against its foes. His main problem is that the Israeli official didn’t mind if among the Fidesz people there were anti-Semites. He also criticises Israel for considering the Left more anti-Semitic than the Right, on thee grounds that the right-wing nowadays is predominantly anti-Muslim. Since the Israeli government has openly dismissed the concerns of Hungarian Jewish personalities, Horváth thinks that Israel doesn’t care for the Jewish diaspora. What it cares for, is just power, he concludes.
