Heti Válasz

A moderately conservative weekly, founded in 2001, under the first Fidesz administration in an attempt to moderate what was seen as a „media imbalance”. Most media outlets were judged, in fact, as favouring liberal and left wing political parties. At the outset, Heti Válasz was owned by a public foundation, while its present owners are entrepreneurs known to be sympathising with Victor Orbán’s Fidesz. Nevertheless, since Mr Orbán was sworn in again as prime minister in 2010, Heti Válasz has regularly carried articles criticising his government’s policies, although left wing and liberal circles remain its main targets .
